Service Department Manager – Commercial Equipment
Since 1985, City Food Equipment has been Chicago’s trusted leader in commercial restaurant equipment and supply distribution. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Service Department Manager to lead our Commercial Equipment Service Team.
City Food Equipment, with locations in Chicago, Lombard, and Wisconsin, is one of the largest restaurant equipment sales and service companies in the Chicagoland area. Family owned and operated since 1985, we take pride in building strong customer relationships and providing a friendly, team-oriented work environment.

Key Responsibilities
· Oversee daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, dispatching, and workflow management
· Answer incoming service calls and schedule repair appointments, maintaining an up-to-date service calendar
· Coordinate daily and weekly meetings with service technicians to ensure clear communication and accountability
· Ensure technicians have the correct parts and tools for each service call
· Assist customers in the warehouse with repair tickets and service inquiries
· Monitor service technicians’ performance, accuracy of paperwork, timeliness of service calls, and adherence to company procedures
· Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and corrective action when necessary
· Generate accurate quotes, invoices, and process customer payments
· Collaborate with other department managers to ensure seamless operations
· Maintain detailed records for accounting, parts inventory, and service reporting
· Perform all other related duties as needed to support department and company goals

Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or technical/mechanical training preferred
• 3+ years of mechanical experience (restaurant equipment, automotive, HVAC, or related field)
• 2+ years of supervisory or team management experience
• Strong understanding of commercial equipment, machine parts, and service processes to create estimates, work orders, and calculate
labor hours
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and standard office equipment
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with temperature fluctuations
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Bilingual Spanish/English skills are a plus

City Food Equipment’s restaurant supply store located in Lombard, a village in DuPage County, Illinois, and western suburb approximately 22 miles from Chicago, provides local restauranteurs and other food service establishment owners and operators a convenient place to shop for restaurant equipment and commercial kitchen supplies. The store is open to the public, giving homeowners and home chefs the ability to purchase professional kitchen equipment and supplies at wholesale prices.
Our 45,000 sq. ft Lombard IL store and showroom typically can have up to 1,000 pieces of new and used restaurant equipment on display from some of the industry's most recognized names, such as Hobart, Biro, Berkel, Bizerba, Vulcan, and Alpha commercial cooking and refrigeration. City Food Equipment is one of the nation's largest used restaurant equipment dealers too, specializing in used meat processing, deli, and bakery equipment.
